Regarding the Icky Thump LP itself, the quality of this 2017 remaster is good, but the 2007 Steve Hoffman master is a national treasure. The quality of the pressing by Third Man Pressing is good, and it is great to see Jack White moving on from the horrific United Record Pressing. Meg's vocals are missing from Rag and Bone, which is really weird

I believe there is a test pressing of TMR498, not listed here though.
One of the best sounding pressings ive ever heard, fantastic.
Is any one else experiencing distorted vocals on this release???
Just listened to the TMR 498 (The Red Demos) and it's fabulous!
Listening to the LP for the first time now. No Meg on Rag & Bone is bullshit. Not sure I can abide that. The extra records are gonna have to be pretty amazing for me not to sell it.
That's just how the vinyl version of the song is. The original pressing also uses the same "guide vocal" track instead of the final version with Jack AND Meg singing.
Got anybody else the Demos and the extras LP twice?
Quite amazed how many people bought this just to immediately re-sell for profit. At least enjoy it for a bit first! I just hope everyone who wanted it already purchased via the vault. I do also partially blame the people willing to buy this stuff at stupid prices. Sorry mini rant over.
I hear you on that one. Just buy it to enjoy. Though I have to say that these releases are packaged for vinyl fanboys. Mine is currently Mint awaiting some free time to downgrade to VG+, and will be done so at high volume. The time is coming for some loud nights!
My favorite Vault package for a while ! Nice job from Third Man.
Has anybody managed to successfully remove the seal without cutting/damaging it?
oh, can't wait for other videos on how to not leave Dorrito fingerprints on records and how to tie my shoe. Thought this was obvious... But they wouldn't have made a video if people weren't messing it up. This must be for the people who list things as NM on discogs and then I get it and wonder what hell that record saw in the 4 weeks after it came out. ha!
http://thirdmanstore.com/thevault/home/show/instructions-on-opening-your-vault-33-icky-thump-lpStraight from the horse's mouth, give it a go! Word.
To my knowledge, it's recommended by TMR to cut it and stick the flaps on the inside. So it's basically a part of the jacket: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7hGicRFGaeQ

The 2007 Steve Hoffman cut is vastly superior. This isn't bad by any stretch, but don't expect it to even come close to the perfection that was the original pressing. Great package otherwise, though.
Really strong vault release, but is there a reason the box is so much bigger than previous box releases (that had the same amount of content)?
If you put your previous copy of Icky in the box, it all fits perfect!
Little bit of black wax inlaid into my b sides disc, otherwise... probably the best Vault release I've received in quite some time.
Mine had the same problem, but it was still liquid, not quite sure what that was
One of the more desirable Vault releases for awhile IMO. Really nice package with equally nice content. I've only listened to TMR500 so far, but I like what I hear. Not overly loud, a nice mastering job with good dynamics, although there is some sibilance. I'm looking forward to hearing the extra material.
The extras and Demo's were made by URP NOT TMR Press in Detroit.
anyone know if this is the same Steve Hoffman master?
It is not the Steve Hoffman/Kevin Gray master. It's a new one done at Nashville Record Productions. Sounds good, fairly revealing and dynamic but I don't quite think as impactful as the Steve Hoffman master. Meg's vocals remain absent on Rag and Bone…
It's clever how there's Side 2, then Side B. I was confused at first but then made sense - it's extras and b-sides! Tracks are numbered on label so you know which is "first" side.
Mine actually seems to be a mispress, both sides are side 2.
