Sleepwalker is the sixteenth studio album by the English rock group, the Kinks, released in 1977. It marked a return to straight-ahead, self-contained rock songs after several years of concept albums. It is the first album in what critics usually call the arena rock phase of the group, in which more commercial and mainstream production techniques would be employed. The album also marks the last appearance of bassist John Dalton, who left the band during the recording sessions. Dalton plays bass on. Текст песни: Evrybody got problems, buddy. Before the albums release, The Kinks switched from RCA to Arista records. The company forbid them from releasing a concept album, forcing Ray Davies to write an album of straight-forward rock songs. Davies also opened the bands new studio, Konk studios, which is responsible for the more modern development on the album. During the making of the album, bassist, John Dalton, who had joined the band in 1969, left the band was replaced by Andy Pyle. The album was well-received by critics, much better received than their other post-Muswell Hillbillies albums. Unfortunately, he chose to illustrate that fact by loading the rest of Sleepwalker with competent but undistinguished mainstream rock. While that might have made the album a hit at the time, its processed sound and weak songs sound dated today, especially compared to the lively arena rock the Kinks later released. Davies piddled away most of the Seventies doing cornball theatrical pieces like Preservation Act II and The Kinks Present A Soap Opera, driving off whatever was left of the audience. But the band had a strange comeback as mullet-mongering arena rockers, aiming squarely at the American mainstream, specializing in smarmy novelty hits. Sleepwalker is erratic, but it peaks high in the rueful groove of Jukebox Music. Album 1977 9 Songs. The Kinks. Rock 1977
