Hi, has anyone information about a Jamaica pressing, nearly similar pressing as here:https://www.discogs.com/The-Beatles-Revolver/release/12364279Also misprint with "Dr. Robert", but the label text is "MANUFACTURED UNDER LICENCE BY GLOKEN, Co.,LTD. JAMAICA W.I.", and there are no side numbers on the label.Kind regards
Rexfire
Sorry, there are side numbers, but in code form: S-YEX 606-1 and S-YEX 606-2

Which was the better recording of Tomorrow Never Knows or better recording Lp, the withdrawn UK one or the 2nd pressing Uk?
Rocky Basilisk
I like the original UK mono mix of TNN, mainly for the organ played during "it is knowing, it is knowing' that is totally absent on the 2nd mono and stereo mixes. Also love the longer fade with more piano doodling by Lennon
Kearanny
Would love to know roughly how many copies of these were printed.
Zeli
My copy of the withdrawn mono lp has a 2 GR code in deadwax for side 2 which indicates side 2 was made with the 12th stamper of the 2nd mother. Assuming a max of 500 records per stamper and 10-15 stampers per mother, I estimate my record was around the 12000th copy made. If more mothers were used for the original side 2 then there could easily be at least 25 thousand copies pressed before a new lacquer with the corrected version of TNN started being used
Modred
a 1966 mono pressing with side 2 label on both sides. Does anyone else have a copy like this?
Priotian
Hi there, please help me to find my version! I have a mono version PMC 7009 made in great Britain in 1966, with matrix runout that i can't find here.Side 1 is: XEX 605 - 2 PD and side 2 is: XEX 606 - 3 MR. On the label of side 2, there is an M T embossed near the hole. thanks everybody !!!

So I found this record on a junkyard sale in pretty good condition though the copydidn't have an inner paper sleeve to protect the record so I bought one separate,I'm not very good at old records like this (I mainly buy reissue because I like the sound)so that's why I'm asking if this one or any records from around this time had inner paper sleeves at all or is it something that starter to appear during the 70's?Glad for answers :)
Peras
That's the wrong cover for Revolver, its is this onehttp://www.yokono.co.uk/collection/beatles/uk/guide/sleeve/revolver_white_sleeve_large.jpghttp://www.yokono.co.uk/collection/beatles/uk/guide/sleeve/revolver_white_sleeve_up1_large.jpg
Blackworm
Thanks! As I don't have any plans on selling it and the paper sleeveI got for it works I don't think I will get it a new one but much thanks anyways!
MisterMax
Hi,This would have been the type of inner sleeve that the record would have originally come in. Check on eBay as they have them for sale. Here's a link to the inner: http://thebeatles-collection.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2011/07/2nd-inner.jpg:-)
Vispel
Just picked up a copy, does anybody know why it was withdrawn originally?

Several different versions or mixes were recorded of tomorrow never knows, when John Lennon heard this copy of the album he phoned up to complain that they had used the wrong version, George Martin agreed (using mix 11 instead of the chosen mix 8) so new pressings were done with the correct mix no 8 is on second press.

I purchased what was supposed to be a first pressing Revolver LP from Ed Brown (rareandclassicvinyl ). I did not receive what I purchased, it was NOT the one shown on Discogs website. For over a week I have been awaiting a promised refund vis Paypal, which is another confusing mess. Everything is too complicated with Ed. I want my money back and Ed can have the 'incorrect' LP back. I wish Discogs could help me more too.
GawelleN
Hopefully this was resolved. In the future, refer to the Discogs sale page to relay feedback. The comments field is not the place for it. Happy collecting!

Have you heard the song from The Chemical Brothers - let forever be?Now listen to Tomorrow Never Knows!Dont foget to see the music video by Anton Corbijn.
Beahelm
my bad, your right it is michel gondry :) love that video though
Xurad
Anton Corbijn? Wasn't that Michel Gondry who directed the clip?
Prinna
Massevely overrated, as more or less everything from the beatles. Only "Taxman" is quite nice. The other stuff - boooooring.... I like disco & electro music, but also like to hear Velvet Underground Banana oder Lee Hazlewood from the 60s. So, I'm not totally unused to such kind of music.

I'm cataloguing my cd's and I have a Revolver CD, CDP 7 46441 2 barcode 0 7777464412 9 but it has a pink apple logo above the green apple logo on the bottom right, (parlophone and emi records ltd on bottom left) and I can't see this on any of the CD's above, I bought in the early to mid 90's as I recall. If anyone can point me in the direction of the correct listing that would be great, cheers
Mala
Yes, that's the one. As if I bought a misprint from woolworths all those years ago. Thanks very much for the help.

With much respect for the attempt made on the 2014 remastered Mono vinyl edition of "Revolver", I must say that there is something still special, something a little extra, about this original “Withdrawn” Mono pressing. This 66' mix is still very fresh sounding today, the effects seem to leap out of your speakers and whirl around you in the room. Overall, the 66’ mix is less restrained, whereas the 2014 plays with more of a sophisticated reservation, mixed with no frequency on the edge of distortion, and cut quieter than the original (with plenty of room to crank), but somehow it’s just not quite the same “Revolver” really, now is it-more like “Revolver, Tamed” in comparison. The real delight, and what makes this 66' Mono "special", is the closing track "Tomorrow Never Knows", it is a different mix than on all other pressings that came after this initial pressing was quickly “withdrawn”. The mix, known as "mix eleven", is fantastic, with it's effects and John's vocals playing differently than what most listeners have been privy to hearing over the years. The vocals (and the tape loops) are louder in the mix (they sound less distant), and are more consistent with the volume levels of the vocals featured throughout the rest of the album, while the effects on the backwards guitar solo are entirely absent. The “something a little extra” is the extended crazy piano outro at the end of the track, which seems to suite the otherworldliness of the song a little more so than on what was to be the correct “mix eight” chosen to close the record.

Hey can anyone help identify my copy? Everything matches up with what it says on this page (catalgue number, runout number, 'dr. robert' etc etc) except the printing house is Garrod & Lofthouse. Is it legit?

Brightcaster
Yes just a later copy of it

The Beatles have grown up. Their first venture into psychedelia is one of their most enduring albums for the production value alone; George Martin is as important here as anyone. The Beatles are clearly influenced by the two Dylan albums released since Rubber Soul as well as their own psychedelic experiences and this is the album where George Harrison really emerges as a strong songwriter in his own right. This sounds much more relevant today that Sgt. Pepper's.
Tolrajas
Can anybody help me identify my edition of this. I have looked through and haven't really seen one that matched. Its the red capitol label with Capitol printed in tan at the bottom. The Title and Artist are printed at the top of the label. The number '17' appears below the RIAA logo on the back of the album. And the strangest part is that both sides of the record have the Side 2 label printed. Matrix runout etched on side 1: ST1 2576 W7 #5Matrix runout etched on side 2: ST2 2576 H25 #1 Would be MUCH appreciated. Thank you.
Riavay
Your pressing sounds a lot like mine. Same Matrix/Runout identifiers and the label sounds to be the same. However, mine has the number "12" printed to the left of the RIAA logo. I was having a hard time identifying my edition as well. After researching all ST 2576 pressings http://www.discogs.com/Beatles-Revolver/release/5617441 this is the closest to matching mine as I am getting. The label appears to be the same as mine compared to earlier pressings.
