Album

Private Life: The Compass Point Sessions is a compilation of recordings by Grace Jones released in 1998 by Island Records. The two-disc anthology consists mostly of material pulled from 19801982 recording sessions. Grace Jones recorded three albums with Sly and Robbie, Wally Badarou, Barry Reynolds, Mikey Chung and Uziah Sticky Thompson, aka the Compass Point Allstars, a studio band named after the legendary Compass Point Studios, Nassau, Bahamas during the period of 19801982 Warm Leatherette. Формируйте собственную коллекция коллекцию записей Grace Jones. Lots of swirling, tinkling sounds and a sharp bassline, Private Life, recorded for the excellent Warm Leatherette album of 1980, became one of Grace Jones' biggest sellers, flying up into the UK Top 20 chart and landing at 17. For anyone but die-hard fans, Private Life: The Compass Point Sessions will simply be too much Grace Jones in one place. Comprised entirely of recordings she made at Compass Point Studios during the early '80s, the double-disc set features 26 tracks, including two unreleased cuts and four previously unreleased mixes of hit songs. These are unquestionably Jones' best material, mainly because she was supported by a top-notch studio band and produced by Sly Dunbar and Robbie Shakespeare. Given that talent, it's hard to go wrong, but Jones' arch, detached persona hasn't ag. Private Life - Grace Jones. While Grace Jones' career encompasses several successful phases, fans new and old continue to return to the music she made at the Nassau-based Compass Point Studios in the early '80s. The Bahamian recording facility owned by Island Records CEO Chris Blackwell was Jones home base from 1980 to 1982, and everything she recorded there is on this superlative collection. Jones served as an ideal frontwoman for The Compass Point All Stars, the studios mostly Jamaican house band. They were looking to push the musical principles of reggae into the future, while Jones was a born futurist l. Songs in album Grace Jones - Private Life - The Compass Point Sessions 1998. A 3 CD set would have been a better choice to include the 12" versions of I've Seen That Face Before (Libertango),Walking In The Rain,Living My Life,Feel Up,Pull Up To The Bumper and the '85 remixes made to promote the Island Life compilation.
Araath
Most of these are now available on the "Nightclubbing" deluxe cd.

This is a definitive compilation of Miss Grace's eighties sound. You not only get hits like My Jamaican Guy, Pull Up to the Bumper and Slave To The Rhythm but a her avant-garde New York Paradise Garage classics like: Unlimited Capacity For Love and Nightclubbing. This disc is a staple for any DJ that's a garage head or eclectic eighties track spinner. This disc is named after prolific mega-producer's Sly & Robbie studio in the Bahamas where these tracks were recorded and Miss Grace made music that capitvated a whole new generation of clubheads like myself.
